Yarning Circles
Yarning Circles are a great place for our mob with disability and their family and supporters to get together, have a yarn and share a cuppa. It’s an opportunity to talk about issues that are concerning you and your family or your community, share your experiences with other people with disability and families, or to simply connect with others in your community. We send out invitations to Network members for these events and post them on our Facebook page. Please let us know if you are interested in hosting a Yarning Circle in your area.
Disability Royal Commission
We are helping First Nations people with disability share their story with the Disability Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with disability. The Disability Royal Commission wants to hear from you and your family about the problems you have faced because of your disability. Sharing your story will help to make our communities better and safer for people with disability.
We will:
- Listen to what has happened and what you would like to do
- Explain more about the Disability Royal Commission and how you can share what your have experienced
- Support you with links to counselling, legal or other help you need
- Submit your story to the Disability Royal Commission

Get help to access the NDIS
ATSIDNQ has partnered with Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) and QCOSS, through the Targeted Outreach Project, to help more Queenslanders with disability to join the NDIS and experience the benefits of the scheme. We can help you understand more about the NDIS but also connect you to free support in your area to help you apply for the NDIS – from collecting and preparing information to filling out and sending the NDIS forms.
